Football player arrested San Diego State defensive lineman Ernie Lawson was arrested at 8:16 a.m. Monday at the SDSU Bookstore and charged with a misdemeanor count of petty theft, totaling $2.19. He was released later that day. Lawson, who will be a sophomore next year, was at practice yesterday and is expected to remain with the team during his pending investigation. "For now, he is (going to keep practicing) until we find out everything," head coach Chuck Long said. "Before I make a statement or hand down some punishment, I've got to find out everything first." Lawson played in all 12 games this past season and made 17 tackles as the backup defensive tackle. He was expected to be one of the frontrunners to take over the position when senior Ornan Nwansi graduates.
