Saosin's new two-in-one album and DVD, "Come Close," is a live compilation of selected works from its previous two albums.

The audio portion of the Newport Beach-based "screamo" band's latest release is brief, with only eight tracks, three of which are acoustic and piano versions of familiar singles. The five live tracks are a refreshing break from the more processed versions of its studio-produced counterparts; but even with the bonus tracks, it doesn't really make up enough content to pass as a full-fledged album.

Its only saving grace is the DVD, which strangely, has almost twice as many songs as the CD and comes with extra music videos of the singles "Voices" and "You're Not Alone." Contrary to past criticisms on the performance of front man Cove Reber on "Come Close" is unusually on key. In fact, his voice is so close to perfect, it almost seems like he could be using an autotuner (an audio processor that fixes the pitch of one's voice).

Regardless of how he managed to drastically improve his voice, "Come Close" is a must-have for Saosin fans, but something that new listeners could probably avoid by buying the last two albums.
