San Diego State University's on-campus sports and leisure program will be recruiting for part-time job opportunities once its relocation to the new Aztec Recreational Center is complete in May.
The program, the Leisure Connection, has provided students with the opportunity to expand their horizons in a variety of adventurous ways. Established in the early 1980s, TLC is a division of the Campus Recreation Sports Office, which is in charge of Intramural Sports and Aztec Center Bowling & Games Center.
Currently located on 5828 Hardy Ave. across from the Adams Humanities building, TLC will be moving to the new Aztec Recreational Center across from Peterson Gym on 55th Street by the end of May. At that time, TLC will be officially changing its name to Aztec Adventures.
"The Leisure Connection sounds more like a '70s term," said Jim Lustig, outdoor programs coordinator. "We want to encourage students to get involved with their campus. The educational experience should go way beyond the classroom. The Leisure Connection offers that opportunity."
A few of the outdoor adventure programs that TLC sponsors include camping, canoeing, rock climbing, sea kayaking, skiing, whale watching and Baja Adventures. TLC also offers a variety of extensive no-credit general interest leisure classes such as photography, ceramics, aerobics, bartending, massage and dance classes.
TLC will be holding several orientation meetings during the summer session and fall semester. They will also be conducting an open house recruitment day for TLC job opportunities on March 4 at the Aztec Center.
