There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but San Diego State’s Dining Services will be serving up $1,000 scholarships to 25 full-time students this fall. Students can now apply for the scholarships made available through the Smart Choice program, which began in March.

DELTA ZETA BACK THIS FALL As of last year, there were an estimated 2,400 members within the Greek community at San Diego State. But as SDSU continues to grow, with this year’s incoming freshman class being the largest in the university’s history, Doug Case, the coordinator for fraternity and sorority life, said he believes the Greek community will proportionally expand.

Honesty and integrity. These are qualities that are highly valued in American society. Most people would describe themselves as honest, but recent events have made me question the validity of these virtues. It was during my goodbye send-off from my summer internship when I became aware of how fleeting these esteemed qualities can be.

I hate going to the dentist. Not because of the agonizing wait to see the hygienist or the pain I will likely endure while gripping down on the armchair handles until my palms turn a pasty white. I hate going because I despise the sales pitch, and I’m never sure if I really need what they tell me I need or if they just want me to believe I need it.

People are so focused on the terrorists who are living on the other side of the world that they’re forgetting about the terrorists living down the street. I’m talking about the terrorists who prowl parks, school grounds and stores to fantasize about encountering their next victims.

When you think of history class, you think of the American Revolution, not the hip-hop revolution. But for San Diego State students, history classes can cover the movement of hip-hop from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast as well as the United States expansion from east to west.

We’ve all played hide-and-go-seek at one point in our lives. As kids at home, as campers in the summer and some of us as college students. Well, maybe not so much in college, but if that’s your thing, then go right ahead. The fact is most students have outgrown this classic childhood pastime.
