Golf championships are usually won on the last day of play. Unfortunately, they are often lost in the first round. Despite a strong second and final day at the PING Arizona Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Tucson, Ariz., the San Diego State men’s golf team couldn’t overcome a rough opening round, finishing sixth with a 4-over 856.

MEN’S TENNIS: Aztecs lose to Trojans

For San Diego State’s men’s tennis team, there are going to be days like this. SDSU came into its match against USC playing well, but discovered that a victory on the road against the No. 6 team in the nation just wasn’t going to happen. The Aztecs struggled against the Trojans, falling 6-1 on Tuesday at Marks Tennis Stadium in Los Angeles.

GREEK BEAT: Greek men work to stop rape

One out of every eight women will be raped while in college and 84 percent of women who are raped know their assailant. As staggering as these statistics sound, they are true, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Reducing the number of sexual assaults is the goal of FratMANers (Fraternity Men Against Negative Environments and Rape Situations), a peer health education program at San Diego State.

After years of waiting and wishing, it’s finally back – the hour-long, spandex-filled athletic competition show, “American Gladiators.” NBC has revived the show, and while fans of the original series will find the overall format and many of the challenges unchanged, there have been a few updates to the show, but unfortunately the most notable is an increased level of cheesiness.

Choir can be fun

Think school choirs are stoic groups singing outdated, boring music? Forget it! The San Diego State Concert Choir class, Music 185, is a fun class with new choral conductor, Chris Allen. Last semester, Allen broke enrollment records for the class with a group of 80 students and this semester there are around 95.
