CAMPUS CRIME

Indecent exposureAn unidentified person reported to University Police that a white male was fondling himself and exposing his genitals in front of females at 2 p.m. last Wednesday at Hepner Hall The police searched for the man, who was reported to be wearing an orange cap, white sweater and beige pants, and found a person who fit his description near Starbucks in Aztec Center. Because the person who reported the crime left the area, police were unable to positively identify the man and make an arrest. “If someone is a victim of a crime like this, we need their help in order to bring about an arrest of the suspect,” Lt. Lamine Secka said. He said when a misdemeanor is committed and an officer is not present, police need a person present who will press charges when they arrest a suspect. “We encourage people to report suspicious activity, but if they have to leave, it would be nice if they left phone numbers or contact information so we can make an arrest,” Secka said. Police told the man to leave campus for a period of seven days. Because San Diego State is a public university, it is required by law to be open to the public.

Three arrested for reportedly stealing marijuana plantsAfter being pulled over for a routine stop sign violation, three non-SDSU students were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing two marijuana plants from an apartment near SDSU. “Apparently, they found out about someone or knew someone who was growing marijuana and they decided to go over to their apartment and steal their plants,” Secka said. The three suspects, whose names have not been released because of the ongoing investigation, were arrested when police discovered the stolen plants sitting in their laps inside their vehicle, according to University Police. “One of the occupants of the car had a marijuana plant on the floor and the other occupant had the plant sitting in their lap when they were pulled over,” Secka said. The three individuals were arrested on charges of burglary, transportation of marijuana and conspiracy to commit burglary. Secka said the residents of the apartment from which the marijuana was stolen are not being charged with anything at this time because police are evaluating their involvement.
