It’s 12:30 p.m. on a Friday in September.
There’s no college football today, the MLB games don’t start until 4 and NFL action is a distant two days away.
But somehow, Seau’s in Mission Valley gives you the feeling that your on the 50-yard line at the Super Bowl.
Well, maybe not exactly, but the ambiance at least makes you feel that there is some type of big sporting event going on.
Owned by all-pro NFL linebacker and Charger great Junior Seau, this sports-themed eatery is one of the most famous restaurants in San Diego.
The impressive array of 60 high-definition televisions spread out over almost every wall, as well as the daunting 12-by-14-foot projection screen, ensure that whatever game you’re interested in will be showing somewhere in the 14,500-square-foot restaurant.
The menu includes your standard sports bar grub, including burgers, wings and enough cross-cut fries to fill Qualcomm Stadium. But Seau’s also offers a wide selection of salads, pastas, seafood and even a full sushi menu from the adjacent Raw Mana Sushi Bar, which has its own dining room and bar. Most items hover right around $10 for the standard burger and fries, but increase to the $15 to $20 range for fish and other specialty dishes.
Seau’s also features a full bar, complete with a lineup of HD flat screens of course, to ensure you never miss a touchdown or home run.
The restaurant’s walls are covered with memorabilia from Junior’s career as well as many homages to other Southern California sports.
Located just down the road from Qualcomm, there is an obvious Charger-centric ambiance, but other local teams also make their presence felt, most notably, the Padres and the San Diego State Aztecs.
NFL Sundays are some of the busiest days for Seau’s: The doors open at 9:30 a.m. and it broadcasts every game throughout the day, guaranteeing that you’ll be able to catch your favorite team playing no matter how far from the action you may be.
Although it may be a little pricey for most college students to go for a bite, Seau’s is well worth the cost if you’re looking for a place to catch the game in a fun, enjoyable atmosphere.
