While the six week break seemed like it was too short for most SDSU students, a six week break for the Aztec swimming and diving team would have been an eternity. After completing a very successful fall campaign, SDSU took the week of Christmas off to rest, but was back into the water before new years. It was important for the Aztecs to stay on top of their game as they had to take on a tough Cal State East Bay squad on New Years Eve, followed by a trip to Fort Worth, Texas a few weeks later to take on TCU. Now as the short spring season is coming to a close, SDSU is looking to finish strong as they take on UCSD, Northern Colorado, and fellow Mountain West Conference opponent Wyoming this weekend. “I really think we’re ready for some good performances,” head coach Mike Shrader said. San Diego State swimming and diving head coach Mike Shrader has a master’s degree in exercise and sports science and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University. It’s a shame he hardly uses his master’s. Full story

Sophomore Brooke Vessey wins three events to lead the Aztecs over Fresno St.

With all of the hard work they have put forth in recent weeks, the San Diego State swim and dive team earned a much needed victory against a Fresno State squad in its inaugural year. Coming off of a tough loss against division rival Colorado State, SDSU cruised to an easy 152-126 win at the Aztec Aquaplex on Saturday. Full story

The San Diego State swimming and diving team picked up two victories against New Mexico and Air Force on Saturday, while dropping its third match to Colorado State. SDSU participated in a four-team meet at the Aztec Aquaplex.  The two victories and one loss put the Aztecs at 2-2 overall and in Mountain West Conference play. Full story
